Pure Filth</a>

Introduction

With their love of putting on a great party with attitude free vibe the SubLogik crew are the people behind the Drum & Bass room at Pure Filth.

Sublogik actually owes its existence to Pure Filth, as it was spawned from the residents of Filth’s second room wanting to have their own night, rather than always playing second fiddle to us techno loonies...

Although still very much part of the monthly Filth party, they now run their own regular night at the Maze on Mansfield Road.

SubLogik

Sublogik started in January 2007 as a new format night for Nottingham, with an eclectic mix of dub, folk, reggae, psychedelia, gypsy and rock music providing an intriguing warm-up to proceedings before the Drum & Bass kicked in. And once those bass lines did kick in, there was no looking back.

The night was an instant success with every event characterised by a unique good time party atmosphere and an almost obscene inability for anyone attending to be disappointed and leave without a smile on their face. None of the hostile attitude and atmosphere so often associated with Drum & Bass events here. No, this was all about having a good time with no attitude and everyone united in the singular pursuit of having a bloody good party! Sublogik continued to run on a monthly basis throughout 2007, securing its reputation as one of Nottingham’s best nights out.

Sublogik returns in 2008 with a re-launch that places greater emphasis on the Drum & Bass (which is what most people come for) with the same good time party vibe to keep the smiles smiling, the grins grinning and, of course, the dance floor dancing!

Whilst retaining the eclectic opening to proceedings (courtesy of DJ Ataraxia), the Drum & Bass now kicks in earlier (from about the time the entry fee increases at 10:30pm) with residents DJ Smith, Suspect One, Mr Fijjitt and Steff B regularly supplemented by guests from all over the country.

Combining a Funktion One sound system with being the prime showcase for Metempsychosis lighting, Sublogik provides great sound, Nottingham’s best light show and tasty real ales and lagers from the bar at our venue, The Maze on Mansfield Road.

Sublogik actually owes its very existence to Pure Filth, as it was spawned from the residents of Filth’s second room wanting to have their own night, rather than always playing second fiddle to a bunch of techno loonies……

Pure Filth had moved to its current home of Blueprint from the Old Angel and suddenly had more rooms to fill. It was decided that the second room would provide Drum & Bass to supplement the usual Filthy offering. The first stable line-up of residents was DJ Smith, Suspect One, Mr Fijjitt and Planar. However, after Planar relocated Daarn Saarth (Bournemouth to be precise) and Steff decided that Drum & Bass weren’t so bad after all and went and bought a few toons, Steff B effectively became his replacement. Thus the Sublogik residents were brought together and soon realised that they wanted to play with each other (ooh err missus!!) even more than they did at Filth. They decided to promote their own night and Sublogik was born.

As well as promoting their own night, the Sublogik residents continue to host the second room here at Pure Filth, providing a variety of Drum & Bass styles with their trademark party vibe. Regular guests include DJ Lobes (of Monkey Nuts fame) and DJ Kuss (resident at Lobotomy and popping up at just about every bloody night you might go to!). Expect further guests in 2008, starting with a collaboration with our friends from Rave Trent in February.

Fun & Bass anyone?
