Michael Forshaw

Michael quotes his biggest influences as being Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Visage, Human League, Si Begg, DJ Funk and all Chicago Shit and early electro. He started DJing in clubs in and around blackpool (his home town) in 1988 before moving to Cardiff and playing out regularly around that area for the next 4 years.

Michael moved back to Blackpool in 1995, bought a sampler, drum machine, a couple of synths and got writing. After a chance meeting with Dean Thatcher and Richard Thair from The Aloof and Red Snapper, they encouraged him to send them his tracks and they released two singles for him on their Flaw label in 1995.

In 1996 Michael started his own record label with a mate called My Breathing (the name taken from a favourite Gary Numan track) and he released five records between 1996 and 1999 before starting the new label, Chan`n`Mikes.

Michael has also had releases on other UK and European labels such as Flaw, Red Seal, Mental Industries, Penalty, Magic Trax, Core, Automatic and Noodles.

Since 1997 he has been DJing and playing live at venues in Germany, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland. He still plays regularly in the UK.

Michael plays live and also does a combination of live and djing.

My live set pretty much mirrors what i play when I DJ, mixing up different styles…..electro/techno and chicago booty trax.”
