Esther Ofei

Esther Ofei has proved herself to be one of the most promising techno artists coming out of the UK. Born in Wolverhampton in 1980, Esther was involved in the ‘Punk and Riot Girl’ scene and played drums in a local band ‘Spank’.

She soon gained an interest in electronic music picking up on the sounds of artists like Underground Resistance, Robert Armani, Downwards Records and The Hacker to name but a few. After moving to Nottingham at the end of ‘96 she became involved with the free party scene, helping sound systems such as The Experience and Dagobah to promote their club nights and parties.

As a DJ she has played at various UK venues, including London’s ‘Uglyfunk’ as well as our very own Pure Filth and Mark Hawkin’s Pneumatic nights,in Nottingham. She has also made numerous appearances on many of the free party sound systems from the UK and the European Teknival circuit.

2001 saw Esther’s debut release on Integrale’s Sheep sub label Sheer, which was to prove to be the first of many. So far during 2002 she has continued to release further material on both the Sheer and Uglyfunk labels, with soon to be releases tracks on Paul Langley’s Jackstar Recordings.

Look out for Esther’s hard funk’in, as she is a force to be reckoned with.
