Filth Radio 001: Mark Hawkins DJ Set
April 16, 2008
The Hawkins-a-thon continues unabated on Talktofilth. Mark has been busy on the decks preparing for his epic five hour DJ set at next month’s Pure Filth. So, we’ve got a two and a half hour DJ set here that’ll give you a little taste of what Mark might have in store for us in May.
As such, I’d like to announce the first Filth Radio broadcast. With Filth Radio we aim to bring you regular DJ sets and live performances from the various residents and friend of Filth who regularly play at the night, all recorded exclusively for the Talktofilth website. The residents have their orders, it’s a chance for them to play something a bit different to what they might play in the club – or maybe they might like to just bang out those favourite slabs – so hopefully they’ll be a bit of variety coming through.
Check here for details of May’s Pure Filth. Mark Hawkins will begin a residency at Pure Filth toward the end of this year – more details soon.

Music Archive: Mark Hawkins DJ set
April 7, 2008
Back in 2003 when a certain Neil Landstrumm played at Pure Filth for the first time, there was quite a queue of people wanting to play alongside the techno legend. Mark won the day and proved more than a match with this blinding set.

3rd May 2008: Mark Hawkins
April 7, 2008

Having spent recent years touring across Europe living in Berlin and Poland, and playing gigs far out on the new European frontier of Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania it is with great pleasure that we announce the return of Mark Hawkins. Never one to stand still his style is constantly evolving, taking influence from his surroundings and the people that he meets merging fresh new sounds and old influences in his own inimitable style.
Mark will be playing a five hour dj set, starting at 10am all the way through to 3am. This promises to be a truly epic journey - warming things up nicely will be some of the more eclectic sounds, electronica, minimal techno and old Chicago stuff.
For the main course you can count on Mark to pick out the best techno from last ten or more years - Audion, Dancemania, a bit of old Vogel, a bit of new Vogel, classics from Mosquito, Sativae, Tresor and Peacefrog to name a few; there’ll be some unreleased gems too - a mental minimal track from Tim Exile and of course the latest creations from the Hawkins studio.
Is if that wasn’t enough the cherry on the cake so to speak is particularly good, having recently been reunited with his Spiral Tribe and Network 23 records - the set will finish with some old school squat party faves.
Certainly something for everyone there, personally I can’t wait to hear it all.
In the meantime check the music archive for one of Mark’s previous recordings at Pure Filth.
